Summary:  The main idea of Julius Caesar is two sides who want to become crowned king. Brutus fears that the Romans would want Caesar as King which would turn against the Republics. Cassius found people treated Caesar like a god, but he is no better then Brutus and himself. Cassuis blames Brutus and himself for letting Caesar rise to power when he was so weak. Caesar tells Anotony that he deeply doesn't trust Cassius. Antony offered the crown to Caesar and each time the crowd cheered, he rufused it. Brutus fears a dictator empire. Brutus and his fellows killed Caesar at last. Antony speaks over the death body of Caesar and turns the Romans against Brutus and Cassius. Octavius, the adopted son of Caesar and Antony plan to go and fight Brutus and Cassius. Over at Philippi at the battlefield zone, Cassius dies first following that death of Brutis. Octavius was happy and enjoyed the revenge of death of the murders who killed his father.

In my opinion, I liked the animated movie better then the play just a bit more because I understood it better. I found some of the people in the play rushed their lines a bit so it kinda hard to understand. What was good about the play was they had nice costumes that fitted back in the old days. The scenery fitted in very well. It was simple and not to complicated to distract us to look at something else. They spoke clearly. I kinda understood what the play was about after the movie. What I liked the movie was they had subtitles. The pictures/ people who acted were good? They had sound in it which the play didn't. Overall, I enjoyed both Julius Caesar movie and play.

Montreal Massacre

To honour those who died in the 1989 Montreal Massacre, people wore white ribbons.

On December 6th, 1989, there was a Montreal Massacre at the Montreal's École Polytechnique. The gunman, Marc Lepine, aged 25, entered a full classroom of 60 students. He lined the men up on one wall and women on another. He then told the men to leave the room threatening everyone with a .22-calibre rifle. This carried on for three floors. When he was in the halls, he would shout 'I want women'. Before he shot the women, he called the women 'Une gang de feminister. J'hais les feministers'. One of the women even pleaded that they weren't feminists, they were just students. He doesn't listen and instead shoots every women in the room. 27 women were injured,14 died, 13 people survived. Some women were lucky in enough to hide in rooms that Marc Lepine didn't enter.

I was surprised to discover...
   - threatened them with his .22-calibre rifle
-14 out of 60 students died, 27 injured, 13 survived
   - after shooting in the classroom, he went out into the hall to shoot
   - 1 women got shot in the head and didn't even die
   - Some hid in rooms, Lepine didn't enter
   - 1 victim found on 2nd floor, 6 victim found in classroom, 4 victim in a room on 3rd floor
3 victim found in the cafeteria on 1st floor
   - Time it happened: 3:32
   - The men thought it was all just a joke
   - Lepine was an Ecole Polytechni

The effects of the massacre left people shocked, scared, and some even felt angry. Some people can't even believe someone would enter a classroom and seperate men from women to shoot them.

The next steps that need to be addressed to the issue of violence against women is stop treating women un-fairly like don't just start hating women like Marc Lepine. Stop abusing them and you should treat them like human - beings like men. Women are just as capable of doing men job as well. Also men should stop having sex with women if they aren't ready to become a parent like don't all of a sudden leave women with a child to take care by themselves because its hard without a father.

Book Report: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Title: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
Author: John Boyne
Interested in a Movie Trailer? http://youtu.be/CkzIC_bwxT8
Summary: The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is an excellent book, full of suspense. From what I have read so far, Bruno (the main character) has to move to a new home called Out-With, with his family and servants. He hates the new home and wants to move back and see his three best friends again. Bruno has no clue what his father does, but he does know that his father is the reason they moved. Bruno looks out of his window and see men of all ages dressed in what he believes are grey striped pajamas and caps.
Questions I have is: 1: Why are the people in the Striped Pajamas and caps     called nobody?
2: Why is Bruno's father working for Hitler? Because of money? He doesn't want his family to be
harmed? He doesn't want to be treated poorly?

What I have read so far: Bruno and his family move out of Berlin to Out-With. Nobody in the family is quite happy about it, since their old house was five stories high and now their new home only has three levels of flooring. Bruno's father has an office that is out of bounds at all times, with no exception, and that applies to their new home too. Bruno goes into Gretel's room and tells her to come to his room and look out the window. She does and comes up with a explanation as to what or where they are going. Later on that day, Bruno goes to knock on his fathers office, and they talk about their new home.  But before he leaves he asks why people were dressed in matching striped pajamas with caps and learns that those people were nobody. Before anyone leaves Bruno's father, they must do the salute for Heil Hitler. After some days later, we learn that Bruno's Father helped Maria (the maid) when Maria's mother was ill and died. Several weeks later, Bruno met Lieutenant Kotler, a guy that Gretel likes. He made a tire swing that same day, but fell off of it and cut and scratched himself. We learned that Pavel, the waiter and cook cleaned Bruno up. Later on in the book, I find out why Bruno's Grandmother left because of her son.

Warning: I'm done the book, but don't want to spoil it for all who haven't read it: the endings going to be sad just so you know so be prepared.

Pink Meets Space

You may be wondering what we did on November 18th, 2011? What are our highlights here at First Avenue Public School? We are proud to say we held our first Pink Stand Up day of the school year. We also walked to Q.E.C.V.I. to visit/see an astronaut which was very interesting. I mean who gets to see a real astronaut every year?

The reason behind Pink Stand Up day was a boy was wearing a pink shirt and other people made fun of him. The very next day, not just the boys friends, but the whole school wore pink. So our school thought that it was a neat idea, so we decided that we should do that too. So November 18th was our first Pink Stand Up day, since the start of the school year. Almost everybody in the class wore pink. In our school, Pink Stand Up day means to stop bullying and stand up to the bully instead of being victimized. I am proud to say our first Pink Stand Up day at First Avenue P.S was a happy success all day!

Later on in the day, we walked to Q.E.C.V.I to see an astronaut. What I learned from the astronaut was really neat and interesting. I thought it would have been boring, but it was far from boring. The astronaut showed us some neat pictures and videos from space. I learned alot about space from him. I never knew you could do such cool tricks in space like a floating water bubble with a skittle inside. If Dr.Andrew Feustel was to come back to Kingston Ontario to do another presentation, then I would probably love to see him again. After the presentation, the class went up to take a photo with him and got to shake his hands.

The day was great and everyone had a fun time. I hope we get to spend another day like this again. Its nice that sometimes we get to learn outside of the classroom.

Leads to the Mysterious Home

After a late-night snow storm, you wake up to the sun rising and the roof on your house is about to cave in. The windows are shattering one by one and broken glass is everywhere. Things are out of place. You start to run around the house screaming your head off and packing your bags while the wind howls. As you open the door and start to head out, icicles from trees start to fall and fly towards you since the wind is blowing so strong at you. You duck just in time for the icicles to hit the wall behind you shattering the family photo. As you close the door and start walking to the damaged photo, you noticed the 4 icicles jabbed right in your familys faces.

Remembrance Day

This is what Remembrance Day means to me: A day to reflect back to the times the soliders went to war to fight. 11/11/11 is the time and day for us to remember the soliders who died and are still alive. Its a pretty neat poster. Please feel free to comment.

Crime Scene Investagation

Have you ever considered being a crime scene investigator? If you are un-sure, !READ THIS POST RIGHT NOW! and you'll find out the pro's and con's of being a crime scene investigator. Being a crime scene investigator can be fun, interesting, and neat, but could also be very tiring.

You may be thinking 'oh, this should be a fun and interesting job',but it isn't really. There would be alot of science work you would have to do which means you have to use alot of brain work/power. On the other hand, you have to see/touch alot of gross stuff. I mean would you like to touch/see a dead body's bones or a slash in the head. Working as a crime scene investigator means you sometimes have to work overtime/longer hours. After a long hard day of work and working overtime, you'll be too tired to do anything else when you get home. Caution, may be a very tiring job!

The good things about being a crime scene investigator is the $ pay $ Big bucks will be going into your pockets. If you have to work overtime, its not fun,but at least its fair to say you get overtime pay. Wouldn't you be happy if you see the convict being put to jail all because you presented some strong evidence to the judge. You would also see the victims family members happy faces when the judge finds the criminal guilty and sentences him to jail. It would also be pretty neat if you got to test evidence . Also, wouldn't you be happy to be seen crusing down the road in a cool and really neat car while everyone 'ohh's' and 'ahh's'. This job may be really fun if you just get used to it and let it be fun and not force it.

Overall, if I were you, I consider wisely before doing this job, but then again who wouldn't want this dream job. Actually, if your not very intellegent or not into science and math, or scared of icky stuff, then you wouldn't want this job. Consider wisely before you choose this job, but best of luck getting your dream job. Follow your heart and dreams!

Corn Field Maze Trip

On October 25th, 2011, my class and I went on a trip to the Corn Field Maze over at Wolfe Island. To get to Wolfe Island, we had to take a ferry ride. I didn't walk with the class to the ferry dock since I lived close by, so I met them down there. The grade 5/6,7, and 8 classes took the 9:30 a.m ferry. When we boarded the ferry, everyone had to go sit up top where it was freezing cold up there, and the seats were wet. When everyone got organized and the ferry was moving, the gr.8 girls and I went downstairs where it was warm and smelled like french fries. Us girls chatted and had a fun time laughing.

Later on, at 10 a.m, we were on Wolfe Island. Some of us went to the store while others did not so the people who didn't go went to the wagon ride. People who didn't go to the store, got on and got comfy. When eveyone got out of the store and onto the long wagon, it was cramped and you can hardly move. Since the wagon was pulled by a tractor and not by horses, it was very slow and cold.

After 30 minutes, which felt like an hour, we were finally at the Corn Field. Everyone climbed out and walked to the hay bales around the campfire to drop off their bags. After that we gathered around the Corn Field Maze owner and listened to some rules. Girls of all grades rushed to the barn to get their boots. Lucky me, I wasn't last so I didn't have to wear bags around my feet as boots like last year. After that, we got into groups of 6, but my group was a group of 8. Kya and I were stuck with the gr.7. No offense, but I never want to be in a group with them ever again. I mean I still like them, but we had too much arguing and I'm not willing to be in a group with some of them again. I have to say the ground was muddier then last year. We were lost, confused, and some of us were angry/mad. To top it off, someone had to drop the walkie-talkie, which means we got no help as to how to get out.

After like 2 hours, we got out and had lunch. We changed back into our footwear. The gr.8 class got a class photo then we went to get on the wagon first. It was the same thing as we got on, but this time, I was on the edge. We got cookies which were good and said our thanks you's and left with the tractor pulling again. We went back on the ferry and had an fun, awesome, and laughing time. I didn't walk back to the school with the class again, since my mom's workplace was close by. Thanks for sounding like my mom, Mrs.Dowker. I know my street safety, but thanks for caring. Your an awesome teacher and I had a blast and I'm sure the class had a fun day as well!
