My Life like a Sound Track

Hey,
My assignment was to write about 3 events and relate it to a song. Well I done that. Heres a link to my glogster poster :

Hope you like it! If the text reading is a bit too small for you, read it on here then:

In the last 2 years, my first travel trip was to China. I was anxious to get there and the plane ride to be over. I also felt nervous because it will be the first time my brother and I ever saw our relatives face to face. When my plane finally landed in China, I felt excited, but scared since it was dark. I was scared of someone just randomly jump out of the bushes and kidnap me in the lonely parking lot. On the way to my Aunt’s and Uncle’s place the city was lit up in colourful lights which was a very cheerful scenery. While in China, I got to travel with my cousins and my brother to Shanghai, which I found exciting, but really scary since my tour guide didn’t speak English or the Chinese language I usually speak and there were tons of people. When I was in China, I learned that I never felt what it was like to love someone so close to your heart, but you argue with a lot to lose him and that was my brother. Later on in the middle of the month near the middle of my travel, I found out from my brother that my little cousin liked me, but I extremely hated his personality and so did my brother. With the help of my brother, I eventually broke his heart, but I know he still has feelings for me.
The song that I can relate to the most about my trip to China is “Breakaway” by Kelly Clarkson. The reason I find the song relating to my trip to China is because certain parts of the song stuck out to me: “I'll make a wish, Take a chance, Make a change, And breakaway, Out of the darkness and into the sun, But I won't forget all the ones that I love”, “Wanna feel the warm breeze”, ”Get onboard a fast train”, “Buildings with a hundred floors”, and “Maybe I don't know where they'll take me, but Gotta keep moving on, moving on”. These parts stuck out to me because this trip was about taking some time to visit relatives who never saw me person to person before and to relax and explore. This song was sung in a passionate voice full of wanting freedom.

In 2 years, I am hoping that I will be able to get my drivers license. Getting a drivers license will be really exciting and important for me because I’ll be in a car driving with huge pressure, but I’ll probably remain calm. Although I’ll probably be nervous, but I hope I pass the writing test and not fail like my brother because if I pass the first time, he’ll be the only one in the family who failed. Since my birthday is in the Winter time, I’ll probably go in and get my testing done around the middle of January and in February, March (hopefully no snow),I’ll take a driving school course. I believe I will be scared to drive in the Winter time since the roads will be slippery and covered with snow. Overall, except for the driving in the Winter time, I believe I will be pretty excited to get my own car with my own drivers license. I am completely anxious to get my drivers license and travel.
The song I can probably relate to with this event is “Proud” by Heather Small. The reason I find this song relating to my event is because I’m going to be so proud of myself when I get my drivers license finally after wishing for it so long. The parts that stuck out to me to think about this relating to my event is “I'm on my way, Can't stop me now, And you can do the same (yeah)”, “What have you done today to make you feel proud?, It's never too late to try” and “Still so many answers I don't know (there are so many answers), Realize that to question is how we grow (to question is to grow)”. These parts stuck out to me because I have to believe in myself that I can get my drivers license and that nothing can stand in my way.

In June, there will be an upcoming graduation which means moving onto high school for me and the graduating class. I’m sure the graduation will be exciting and happy for me since it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to graduate out of elementary school so everything should go happily. It’ll also be sad to see my friends move onto separate paths, but I’m sure the girls will still keep in touch hopefully. I believe starting in high school will be a lot tougher, harder, more stressful which worries me, but aside from that, I’m sure high school will be a happy and exciting time from what I hear. High school will probably freak me out at first since I’m going to be new, don’t know my way around, and making new friends if your not too good at that. Its already kind of scary to even think about it since you don’t know what your expecting while being in elementary school, you know all the teachers and what they are like. One thing, I am hoping to do is keep an open mind and hope for an exciting year in high school.

The song that I can relate to the most to this event isHold Onto The Memories by Corey Tynan. The reason I find this song relating to my event is because I hope nobody forgets the time they had in the elementary school year. The parts that stuck out to me is “Memories fade, but they're never lost, Colors change with time and change of heart”, “Everything I know is behind me, I'm starting a new life, I just don't want to say goodbye”, “The sun has set on everything we know, Friends we've made, I don't want to let go, After everything that we have learned, It's our time now, it's our turn” and “The lights go dim as we suddenly see, It's time to find who we're meant to be, We couldn't wait for this to end, Now we wish we could start again”. These parts stuck out to me because its about moving on being un-sured where this path will lead you, but memories will be remembered along the way.

Inference 101

Part 1: Inference means making your best guess based on what happened that you have read and given clues upon.

1. I wouldn't eat after that two-year-old if I were you.
Inference:
The two-year-old probably did something gross to the food you were
about to eat, or has a cold and you could catch it. Something bad will
happen to you if you eat it because he "I wouldn't" sounds like a
warning!

2. For Valentine’s Day, my fantastic neighbor gave his wife a poem that took him
about two seconds to write. Sheesh.

Inference: My neighbor is not very considerate since he didn't take his time
writing the poem, the text clue that led me to this decision was the
"Sheesh". People usually say "Sheesh" when they are annoyed or
frustrated.

3. A man ran after a retreating bus, waving his briefcase frantically.
Inference:
The man probably missed the bus and needed to get on because he was waving his briefcase frantically at the bus. You would only do this action if you were missed your ride.

4. If she died, I wouldn’t go to her funeral.
Inference:
The 'I' person probably hated the 'she' person if the 'she' person was to die. Someone would only say this if they really hated the person who was to die.

5. Jake almost wished that he hadn’t listened to the radio. He went to the closet
and grabbed his umbrella even though he would feel silly carrying it to the bus
stop on such a sunny morning.
Inference:
Jake probably listened to the radio to only hear the weather would only be sunny in the morning and not in the afternoon though.OR. They felt silly to bring an umbella on a sunny morning because someone needed to use it as a prop. Someone would only bring an umbella if it would rain that day or if they needed to use it tht day.

6. Hey! What happened to all the school construction money taken from the
taxpayers? It paid for this toilet the money was flushed down.

Inference: The taxpayers probably gave the school construction money to make the school better, but they didn't use the money on the school. Instead they wasted the money on new toliets. Someone would only say this if the money was really wasted so someone would use an expression saying the money was flushed down the toliet like waste.

7. As you give a speech in front of a large audience, you realize that people are
laughing behind their hands and pointing to the region below your waist.

Inference: As you were giving a speech in front of an audience, something down below your waist happened and the crowd was probably laughing at it. People who try to hide their laugh would only laugh behind their hands and point their finger to show their friends what they are laughing about or where to look thats funny.

8. No, Honey, I don’t want you to spend a lot of money on my birthday present. Just
having you for a husband is the only gift I need. In fact, I’ll just drive my
old rusty bucket of bolts down to the mall and buy myself a little present. And
if the poor old car doesn't break down, I’ll be back soon.

Inference: The wife probably didn't want you to spend alot on a birthday present and instead hinting that she probably wanted you to spend it on a new car because at the end, she kinda hinted that her car was a old, rusty bucket of bolts and if the old car doesn't break down, she'll be back soon.

9. A woman walks into a hospital clutching her abdomen and cursing out her husband,
who trails behind her carrying a large bag.

Inference: Her husband probably injured her wife's abdomen or not helping her at all when he injured her and is feeling gulity because he don't know how to help her. Someone who would only curse out her husband would probably be hating him and the husband who is trailing behind may feel guilty or embarrassed.

10. You're driving on the highway, listening to the radio, and a police officer
pulls you over.
Inference:
If your driving on the highway, listening to the radio, and a police officer pulls you over, you probably listening to the radio to loud and your distracted by driving crazy- cutting in front of people, e.t.c. A police officer would only pull you over unless you did something wrong.

1. 2. 3.

1. Inference for the 1st photo above is the guys are probably working hard at a game of Tug-of-Wars. They look like they are playing against a really hard and strong team.

2. Inference for the 2nd photo above is its looks like the dog wants to play with a deflated soccer ball or wondering who broke his favourite toy.

3. Inference for the 3rd photo above is it looks the boy is trying to cheat off of the girl on a work, test, quiz,e.t.c. The boy looks like he is doesn't know an answer to a question and is trying to look off of the girl.

The writing with Voice

One very late night day with the winds howling hard, I was driving home from work on a lonely, dark street. I parked my car in my garage and got out with the winds trying to sweep me away. When I finally got up to the door and unlocked it, I heard something really strange like a flower vase crashing over. Since I was really tired, I ignored it and went to the kitchen to check that my cat, Bailey ate all her food drank all her water and didn't make a mess. Next, I went to the living room and turned on the TV. Bailey was there napping like a cutie as usual on one of the fancy pillows. I headed upstairs and when to the bathroom and showered and cleaned myself up. Before I entered though, I thought I heard a door open and close, but I decided to ignore it. When I got out and was ready for bed, I headed downstairs to pick up my cat, but the lights were all out and the TV was off which were creepy since I left everything on. So I walked cautiously down the creaky stairs. All of a sudden, the TV was back on and I looked towards the fancy pillow and Bailey was gone! I started panicking and checking all her hiding places, but Bailey was gone. When I looked towards the back door, I found one of her booties. I started freaking out! I quickly ran back upstairs and threw on my outdoor clothing  and threw on a coat and headed outside. As I was out the door, I quickly ran back in and grabbed her favourite kitty treats. I poured a huge pile of kitty treats on the back porch and ran all around checking her hiding place while also spilling kitty treats everywhere. When I got to the front of the house and onto the side walk, I screamed and hollered with worry: "Bailey!! My sweet little
cherry-bomb, please come home! Mommy misses you!!! Bailey! Bailey, just please please come home!" All I got in reply was a bark from a dog and a stray black cat meowing in the distance and crossing the street which made me cry. As I started to fight against the wind to get back inside, the stray cat meowed and purred and went up against my leg for my attention. I finally got what it was asking me, to follow it. So I followed the black cat probably full of fleas and that lead me to the only barking dog earlier. A huge guard dog to a haunted house! Luckily it was on a chain so it tried to get at me, it couldn't. I decided to stay far away from the dog and creep around to the windows. There I saw my cat, Bailey all filthy and lost all, but one bootie! I cried with joy. All of a sudden though, 2 masked strangers and the guard dog were rounded a corner and started to come at me. I ran the other way carrying my precious cat. With the wind battling against me, I ran and ran all the way to my safe home and locked all the doors and windows. I felt no need to call the cops since the masked strangers were probably gone. I felt so tired, but the cat was so un-cleaned that it bugged my so I  cleaned the cat and then headed to bed. The next morning, I woke up with Bailey and feed her and went to work. For the rest of Bailey's life, everything was normal and Bailey enjoyed the feeling being treated like a princess!

Alternate Ending: The next morning, I woke up with a huge head-ache and I wasn't even in my comfy, cozy bed instead I was on the cold hard floor. I felt like my head was bleeding so I reached a hand up and there was blood.I screamed and screamed and called the cops. My house was a huge mess and I knew Bailey was gone. By mid-afternoon, I received a ransom phone call demanding me to pay $10,000 if I want to see my cat again alive! Good thing I called the cops this morning and they traced the phone call.

The Year of 2011's Most Memorable Events

In the year of 2011, many of events happened that I am sure no one will ever forget. Some of these events were tragic, people were affected by the weather, some lost loved one, some countries leaders were dictators, but not all these event were sad. Some events were happy moments that will be remembered, like the Royal Marriage. Another significant event was when Osama Bin Laden was killed. The top three most memorable moments/events that I'll remember the most would be the Royal Marriage, Japan's earthquake and the tsunami that followed afterwards, and Gabrielle Giffords survival.

An important event that I’ll remember of 2011 would be the Royal Wedding, Prince William and Catherine Middleton, who are now both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were married at West Minister Abby in London on April 29th ,2011. Lots of people in London lined the streets to get a glimpse of the Royal Couples and many more tuned in on TV as well. When it was time for the balcony kiss, everyone rushed forward onto the grounds of the palace and that shows how much people were interested in the couple. A Royal Marriage is rare and hardly happens, the last one was in 1981. Many people were starting to lose interest in the Royals until the Royal Wedding, it brought back positive attention to the Royals. This was an important event to people who care about the Royals or are fascinated. The Royal Wedding influenced so many people by the gorgeous wedding and showed that people should be very happy when they get married because its suppose to be a special moment.

Another important event that would be most memorable to me would be the terrible tragedy that happened in Japan on Friday, March 11th, 2011. An earthquake erupted in Japan and a tsunami followed afterwards. The earthquake was ranked a magnitude 9.0. The earthquake was a very powerful. It was one five most powerful earthquake in the world since 1990. The earthquake then triggered a powerful tsunami. The waves reached up to 40.5 meters high (133ft). The tsunami caused a number of nuclear accidents, primarily at the three reactors in the Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant complex. The Japanese police confirmed that over 125,000 homes or buildings either destroyed (swept away) or damaged, about 15,844 people died, 5,890 people were injured, and about 3,451 people were missing. The roads, railways, and fires that the earthquake and tsunami caused were heavy damage. This was a huge devastation to the Japanese and many lives were lost. This will be forever remembered. The tragedy was also an important event because people all over the world were affected.

Another important event revolved around a 40 year old US Congresswomen who was nearly killed on January 8th ,2011. Gabrielle Giffords survival was amazing. How she survived was a true miracle. At a public meeting in Tucson, Arizona, Gabrielle was shot at very close right at the head. The bullet entered from the back-left portion of her brain and exited through the front left portion. A small chunk of her skull needed to be removed so the brain could have room to swell without further damage, but the part has been replaced now. The doctors said, "if the bullet had crossed to the left and right side of the brain, the outcome would have been different". Luckily though, the bullet missed many of the brains critical structures and major blood vessels. Since the left side of the brain controls your right side human movements, Gabrielle will be having difficulty speaking and interpreting speech. Gabrielle Giffords is not fully recovered yet, but she was strong and re-learned the basics fast and she traveled. This was just truly amazing since your chance of surviving was slim two thirds chances even if you don't die right away, you'll die on the way to medical attention. This influenced people by having hope that even if you get shot, you may still be able to survive.

All I have to say about the year of 2011 is that it was a really surprising year with many events that happened, I'm not saying just about the world-wide news, but my life too. I don't think I can predict what the year of 2012 is going to bring or what will happen in my life, but I do know that the year will be fun, exciting, and unpredictable. A couple of things I hope the year of 2012 will bring into my life is less drama (everyone just be friends) and more traveling with my family. I believe a lot could happen if we just all keep a open mind.
